About Level 3 Apprenticeships

Level 3 apprenticeships are A-Level equivalent and represent the most popular apprenticeship level. They cover skilled roles in engineering, IT, health, and business. Duration is typically 18-24 months. This level provides enough skill to enter many professional roles directly. Typical apprenticeship wages range from £14,000-£22,000, though some large employers pay significantly more.

Career Progression After Level 3

Level 3 completers can progress to Higher Apprenticeships (Level 4/5) or enter employment in skilled roles. Many Level 3 apprentices in trades (electrical, plumbing, engineering) earn £25,000-£35,000 within 3-5 years. Further qualifications can be gained while working. The apprenticeship minimum wage is £6.40/hour (2025/26) for those under 19 or in their first year; after this, the National Minimum Wage for your age applies.
