About Point 0 (Probationer)
The probation year. Point 0 is what Scotland pays student teachers who move onto the Teacher Induction Scheme — a guaranteed one-year training post in a Scottish school. It is the highest starting rate for new teachers anywhere in the UK.
These are the national SNCT rates — one scale for the whole of Scotland, with no London-style area weighting. See the full Scottish scale for chartered, principal teacher and leadership rates.
